Will God, Religion, survive science? Or will a new religion, based on Science, Artificial intelligence emerge and take over society?

According to Dan Brown, the author of countless best-sellers, it is only a matter of time before God is replaced by Artificial Intelligence, as a new Religion created by computer emerges.

The US author is convinced that Religion as we know it will come to an end when Artificial Intelligence creates a totally new form of collective consciousness.

The Author of the Da Vinci code believes that technological advancements and the fast-paced development of Artificial Intelligence will transform our understanding of the word ‘divine’.

During an interview at the Frankfurt Book Fair, Dan Brown said how his prediction may not be welcomed by clerics, but he calls for a greater harmony between our world’s religion and those who profess no faith.

“Christianity, Judaism, and Islam all share a gospel, loosely, and it’s important that we all realize that.

“Our religions are much more similar than they are different. We will start to find our spiritual experiences through our interconnections with each other. Our need for that exterior god, that sits up there and judges us … will diminish and eventually disappear,” said Mr. Brown.

Mr. Brown predicts the emergence of: “some form of global consciousness that we perceive and that becomes our divine”.

The comments made by Brown come after he published his latest novel “Origin,” the fifth in a series following popular character Robert Langdon, the protagonist of ‘The Da Vinci Code’, which questioned the history of Christianity.

Speaking at the Book Fair, Mr. Brown said that his latest novel was inspired by the question ‘Will God survive Science?’, adding that humanity has never encountered itself where it now, in terms of religion at least.

The author added:

“Are we naive today to believe that the God’s of the present will survive and be here in a hundred years?”

The comments made by Brown are very interesting if we look at a bigger picture.

Not long ago, some of the world’s most influential scientists and businessmen have expressed their fear in regards to Artificial Intelligence and the pace it was being developed at.

Professor Stephen Hawking warns how Artificial Intelligence may be our civilizations greatest disaster.

“In short, success in creating AI could be the biggest event in the history of our civilization,’ said Prof Hawking. “But it could also be the last unless we learn how to avoid the risks. Alongside the benefits, AI will also bring dangers, like powerful autonomous weapons, or new ways for the few to oppress the many. It will bring great disruption to our economy. And in the future, AI could develop a will of its own – a will that is in conflict with ours,” said Professor Hawking in the past.

AI already is a religion

The worship of the machine, Deus Ex Machina is already a reality.

A Former Google Engineer—Anthony Levandowski—has set out to create the first futuristic religion on Earth, one that is based around the worship of Artificial Intelligence. This religious project referred to as the Way of the Future goes back to its origins to the year 2015, and Levandowski is seen as its founder. The “moral” goal, according to their own founding statutes, would be to contribute to the improvement of society by worshiping a divinity empowered by Artificial Intelligence.
